2011 Conference
To coincide with the launch of English Heritage's Industrial Heritage at Risk Register (HARR) and the Angel Awards ceremony, UK APT in the Midlands is holding an open meeting at the Glass Classroom, Coalbrookdale – the birthplace of industry. Speakers will be proposing ways in which the best of our unique industrial past can be saved for future generations to learn from, value and enjoy.
The event will be hosted by the Shropshire Building Preservation Trust, and Dr. Anthony Streeten, Regional Director, English Heritage ( East Midlands ) will deliver the keynote speech. Fellow speakers include the Heritage Angel award winner for the Best Rescue of an Industrial Building or Site, Tim Booth (Midland Mills & Water Mills Group), Bernie Jones & David Crow (Shrewsbury & Newport Canals Trust), Ian Rice (Architectural Heritage Fund) and Dr. James Moir (Director, UK APT).
UK APT in the Midlands aims to get building owners, developers, local authorities, voluntary bodies, academics, architects, surveyors, heritage professionals, politicians, contractors and craftspeople debating the future of our industrial heritage.
